Recently a recall necessitated my taking the car to the dealer for a checkup.
I took advantage of the waiting time to continue work on the latest woodcut. It is slowly but surely moving along during breaks from painting.
The end is in sight!!

Work on a new Icon of SAINT OLGA has begun.
The small 8×10″ “patron saint” Icon is shown in the first four stages of execution: The drawing of the image on the prepared wood panel (with the “cartoon” visible on the left), the gilding of the halo and background with 22k gold and finally the completed underpainting.
With the prep work done, the slow process of “writing” the Icon can begin!
More to come.

The last of 2011 and the first 0f 2012!
A week or so ago I was cleaning out the background on the “ASPARAGUS” woodcut with a mallet and large chisel. Hearing the tapping, my nephew came running excitedly asking: “Where’s the camera? On the right, is the first piece of the New Year. The beginnings of a new carving. The drawing was made on the block with India Ink and a brush. The block was then...
